The MEDIC utilizes a rotating bezel with two distinct scales: a pulsometer for counting pulses and an asthmometer for respirations. To use either scale, rotate the bidirectional bezel and line the start of the desired colour up with the seconds hand.
Using the red pulsometer scale, line the red section up to the seconds hand and count 15 pulses. At the count of 15 pulses take note of the number on the scale and that will be the average heart rate over one minute.
Using the blue asthmometer scale, line the blue section up to the seconds hand and count 5 breaths. At the count of 5 respirations take note of the number on the scale and that will be the average respiratory rate over one minute.
The articulated stainless steel bracelet features a folding clasp with eight micro-adjustments for a perfect fit. The MEDIC comfortably attaches to your wrist with a 20mm H-Link bracelet that tapers to 18mm. It employs solid end links and five removable links with screw-in pins for further customization. The folding clasp has dual safety buttons that lock in place for a secure fit. Practical drilled lugs on the case make changing the bracelet an efficient process.
An open case back shows off the intricacies of the movement and the inner workings of the watch. It also gives a glimpse at the blued screws and annealed grey metal finishing of the MD 7081 movement.
A tightly fit screw down crown sealed with a gasket for water resistance. Found at the 3 o’clock marker, this crown adjusts to two positions for setting the time or changing the date.
The MEDIC stands out with a 120-click, coin edge bidirectional bezel with a dual-colour ceramic insert. The blue scale of the bezel is for measuring respirations and the red scale is for measuring pulses.
The MEDIC is powered by Maryland Watch Works’ self-winding automatic MD 7081 movement, assembled at their facility in the United States. This is a robust movement with an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per day and a 42 hour power reserve.
To ensure clear legibility in any lighting, the dial, hands, and bezel are all painted with bright
Swiss Super-LumiNova BWG9 (lume). The dial is printed with large 12-hour and smaller 24-hour numerals, this format is standard in military, aviation and professional fields where precise timekeeping is crucial. Assembly also includes inserting a custom lumed date wheel with numbers that glow through the beveled date window on the dial. Day shift or night shift, the MEDIC has you covered.
